About this work
Of the 80 Helmantels that have passed through my hands in recent years, the Still Life with Chestnuts truly stands out. The work was undocumented and unknown. Henk painted it for a private collector, and it has never been shown in exhibitions or on the market. The work is a typical Helmantel. The painter is capable of compositionally arranging a few chestnuts from the immediate vicinity in a beautiful way, selecting suitable objects, and painting them. The clarity of the work is outstanding and of museum quality. The owner of this work possesses a masterpiece.
