The Chapel of the Fraterhuis

We are located in the chapel of the Fraterhuis. A building full of history! From a friar community, which taught the region to read and write, a plague house where the sick were nursed, to what it is now…. But what is it now? The chapel is not only happily inhabited by Erik and Esther, but is also the destination for admirers of Henk Helmantel, the renowned Dutch painter and 'Artist of the Year 2008'. Helmantel's works fit into the chapel of the Fraterhuis in Harderwijk because Henk finds his inspiration in North European art culture and is rightly called the last Master Painter, the Vermeer of the 20th century. Medieval churches, historical archaeological finds, old glassware – it can all be found in his oeuvre, but also in the Fraterhuis. As an admirer and investor in Henk's works, helmantelschilderijen.nl has grown into the most important place where collectors of his paintings gather.
