Debora Makkus has been counted among the ‘Masters of Realism’ for many years: a selection of distinguished realist artists. Her works have featured in more than 45 museum exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad. Her work has a strong, distinctive character. In her Roman Glass series, Debora paints a perfume bottle dating from the 1st/2nd century AD, from the renowned Dutch collection of Hans van Rossum. The bottle is not only in perfect condition but also has an unusual iridescence, which finds beautiful, powerful expression in the painting, both in the bottle itself and in its shadow.
