About this work
The serene bowl in this painting was inspired by an antique porcelain bowl that Debora discovered at an antiques market. The deep blue background has been built up from countless transparent layers, an effect that is almost impossible to capture in a photograph. When properly lit, the rich colours of the porcelain and its warm, golden reflections come beautifully to life. It is no coincidence that this work was exhibited at the Museum Møhlmann.
